Synopsis:
Batman raises the stakes in his war on crime. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, Batman sets out to dismantle the remaining criminal organizations that plague the city streets. The partnership proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a reign of chaos unleashed by a rising criminal mastermind known to the terrified citizens of Gotham as The Joker.

With just one year having passed after taking out Ra's Al Ghul's plan to have Gotham eliminated and the mysterious disappearance of Dr. Jonathan Crane AKA the Scarecrow, and after the city was nearly plundered with his toxins, Bruce Wayne and his vigilante alter-ego the Batman, continue the seemingly endless effort to bring order to Gotham, with the help of Lt. James Gordon and newly appointed District Attorney Harvey Dent. But a new threat has now emerged into the streets. The Dark Knight faces a rising psychopathic criminal called The Joker, whose eerie grin, laughter, and inhuman morality makes him as dangerous than what he has yet to unleash. It becomes an agenda to Batman to stop the mysterious Joker at all costs, knowing that both of them are in an opposite line. One has no method at all and seeks to see the world plunge into the fire he has yet to light.

Regie übernahm Alfred Goulding. “Laurel & Hardy - Wissen ist Macht” basiert auf dem Drehbuch von Charles Rogers, Harry Langdon und Felix Adler. Die Presse schreibt: Als Klassiker der Filmkomik haben Stan Laurel und Oliver Hardy längst ihre herausragende Bedeutung in der Filmgeschichte gefunden. Ihre Stimmen sind nun endlich im Original zu hören, verbunden mit den zahlreichen originellen Soundgags…Alle Fans des Genres Komödie werden in dem 60 Minuten langen Leinwandstreifen sicherlich voll auf ihre Kosten kommen. In einem Sägewerk kommt es in „Am Rande der Kreissäge“ beim Hantieren mit Leim und Säge zu urkomischen Pannen. Das Verhältnis zwischen Stan und Ollie sowie ihren Arbeitskollegen ist plötzlich sehr angespannt.

In Schrecken aller Spione wird das weltbekannte Duo zum Militär eingezogen, doch als Stan und Olli sich zum Dienst melden, überlegt es sich Vater Staat schnell anders: Unsere Helden werden ausgemustert und zum Luftschutz abkommandiert. Doch auch während der Verdunklung gibt es jede Menge Spaß – vom Geplänkel mit dem notorisch spät zündenden Komiker Edgar Kennedy bis zum Scharmützel mit einer Bande von Spionen.

AIR RAID WARDENS (1943) has our heroes trying to help their community in wartime by putting up posters (messily), attending a town meeting (distractingly), administering first aid (disastrously), asking Edgar Kennedy to please turn off his house lights (unsuccessfully), and finally foiling an enemy sabotage plot (and very successfully). A huge box-office hit in 1943 and a real "audience" picture: for best results watch this one with some friends.
